Privacy Policy

This page explains what information rootstest.de collects, why, and who it is shared with. This is a demonstration site, and we keep data collection to the minimum needed to run it, respond to messages, and keep it secure.

Information we collect

Analytics

We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to understand which pages are visited. Umami does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites. It records aggregate information such as page views, referring site, approximate country, and browser and device type. Your IP address is used only to derive the country and is not stored. The Umami script and its data are served through this domain (a first-party proxy), so no request is made to a third-party analytics host.

Contact form

When you use our contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message you submit. We use this only to read and reply to your enquiry. The submission is delivered to us by email (see “Email” below).

Comments

If you leave a comment on a post, WordPress stores the comment content along with your name, email address, and IP address. If you tick the “save my details” option, your name, email, and site are stored in cookies on your own device for convenience. Comments are visible to other visitors once approved.

Bot protection (Google reCAPTCHA)

The contact form and comment form are protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3, which helps us tell humans from automated spam. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information (such as device and application data) and sends it to Google for analysis. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Email

Outgoing email — replies, contact-form notifications, and account or system messages — is sent through Amazon Simple Email Service (SES). The message content and recipient address are processed by Amazon Web Services in order to deliver the email.

Hosting, media, and server logs

The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services (an EC2 server), and uploaded media is stored in Amazon S3 and delivered through the Amazon CloudFront content-delivery network. Like any web server, ours may keep standard access logs (including IP address and browser user-agent) for a short period for security and troubleshooting.

Cookies

This site sets very few cookies. WordPress may set a cookie if you choose to save your details when commenting, and Google reCAPTCHA may set its own cookies as part of its bot detection. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How long we keep data

  • Comments and their metadata are kept until removed.
  • Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry.
  • Encrypted database backups are stored in Amazon S3 and automatically deleted after one year.
  • Analytics data is aggregate and not tied to an identifiable person.
